Welkom in de wereld van Ancient Civilizations of The Inner Sea, een meeslepend bordspel ontworpen door Christopher Vorder Bruegge en Mark McLaughlin, en ontwikkeld door Fred Schachter. Dit bordspel neemt je mee op een epische reis waarin je de rol speelt van beroemde en legendarische beschavingen die opkwamen en afnamen langs de kusten van de Middellandse Zee, die de Romeinen treffend het 'Mare Internum' noemden, oftewel de Innerlijke Zee.
Ancient Civilizations of The Inner Sea is niet zomaar één spel, maar vele spellen in één. Van 1 tot 6 spelers nemen de rol aan van één, twee of zelfs drie van deze beschavingen terwijl ze concurreren in maximaal vier tijdperken op land en zee. Overleef mogelijke natuurrampen terwijl je je onuitwisbare stempel op de geschiedenis drukt door veroveringen, het bouwen van steden en grote wonderen. Alleen zo kun je de dominante kracht van jouw tijdperk worden.
Uitgebreide solitaire regels bieden de mogelijkheid om elk scenario, inclusief het basispel, te spelen als enkele speler tegen één of meer non-player beschavingen (NPC's). Deze NPC-component kan vreedzaam of vijandig zijn, of hun houding veranderen afhankelijk van de acties van de speler. Voor diegenen die willen vechten om hun beschaving uit te breiden of te verdedigen, bieden historische oorlogsspelscenario's bijzonder agressieve Solitaire-systeemgestuurde tegenstanders.

Ancient Civilizations of the Inner Sea is an exciting, easy-to-learn, easy-to-play but challenging to master Abstract Game in which Players guide the renowned and legendary Civilizations that surged and receded around the shores of the Mediterranean, which the Romans aptly called the Mare Internum, or Inner Sea.
Ancient Civilizations of the Inner Sea is not just one game but many games. From 1 to 6 Players will take the role of one, two or even three of these Civilizations as they compete across up to four epochs on land and sea, seeking to survive a host of potential natural disasters while making their indelible mark on History through Conquest and the Building of Cities and great Wonders: thereby becoming the dominant power of their age.
Extensive Solitaire Rules allow any Scenario, including the Basic Game, to be played by a Single Player against one or more Non-Player Civilizations (NPCs). The NPC component may be peaceful or hostile, or change their attitude depending on the actions of the Player. Historical War Game Scenarios offer particularly aggressive Solitaire System-controlled Opponents for those who want to fight to expand or defend their Civilization.
Select Scenarios recreate the situation at the start of the Punic Wars or the Roman Civil Wars of Caesar vs. Pompey and Anthony and Cleopatra against Octavian. Other Game set up options can cram players into half or two-thirds size Maps that all but force them to fight. There are even double-civilization and double-sized civilization options for those who want to conquer the world of Ancient Civilizations of the Inner Sea.

Solitaire rules challenge the player to save Egypt from invaders, defend Rome from the barbarians or march as the Greeks against Persia in exciting solitaire scenarios from the desperate days at Marathon to the conquests of Alexander. The game’s 110 Event Cards grant civilizations great generals, prophets and architects, along with military and commercial advantages ranging from chariots to triremes and from caravans to traders.
